Byers, Colorado is a small town located in Arapahoe County, about 30 miles east of Denver. It’s a rural community with a population of just over 700 people. The town has a rich history that dates back to the mid-1800s when it was initially established as a trading post along the South Platte River.
In its early days, Byers was home to many Native American tribes and was an important stop on the Overland Trail for pioneers travelling westward. In 1867, the town was officially founded by William Byers – one of the original settlers and editor of the Rocky Mountain News.
Today, Byers is still a small rural community but has grown significantly since its founding days. The town is home to several businesses, including two convenience stores, two gas stations and several restaurants. There are also several churches in Byers as well as an elementary school and a post office.
