Cripple Creek, Colorado is a small mountain city located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The city was founded in 1891 and has a rich history as one of the most successful gold mining towns in the United States. Today, Cripple Creek is best known for its historic downtown area, which is filled with charming Victorian-style buildings and an array of shops, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues.

The city sits at an elevation of 9,494 feet above sea level and has a population of just over 1,400 people. The surrounding area offers stunning views of the nearby mountains and valleys as well as plenty of outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, skiing and snowmobiling.

To get to Cripple Creek you can take US Highway 24 from Colorado Springs or take US Highway 50 from Pueblo. There are several popular attractions including the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine Tour which takes visitors to depths over 1,000 feet underground to explore a real gold mine; The Cripple Creek District Museum which showcases artifacts from the city’s rich history; and The Butte Theater which hosts live music performances throughout the year.

The historic downtown area is also home to many casinos offering slots, table games and poker tournaments. These casinos have helped revitalize Cripple Creek’s economy since gambling was legalized in 1991. In addition to these gaming establishments there are also several restaurants serving up delicious local cuisine such as steakhouse favorites like prime rib or bison burgers; cozy coffee shops offering fresh pastries; bars serving up craft beer selections; and unique boutiques selling souvenirs from around town or handmade jewelry from local artisans.
