The history of Woodbridge dates back to 1659 when it was first established as a parish within New Haven County. In 1784 it became an incorporated town. During the Revolutionary War the town was home to several prominent figures such as General Gold Selleck Silliman who led troops in the Battle of Long Island Sound.
