Waianae is a small town located on the Waianae Coast of Oahu, Hawaii. It is situated on the leeward side of Oahu and is known as “The Country” because of its rural atmosphere. Waianae is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii, with white sand and crystal clear waters. The town itself has a population of around 13,000 people, mostly made up of Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders.

The area was once an important agricultural center for the Hawaiian people, with taro fields, fishponds and other traditional farming practices being practiced in Waianae for centuries. It wasn’t until the 1950s that tourism began to take off in the area and Waianae became a popular destination for visitors from all over the world.

Today, Waianae is known for its laidback lifestyle and friendly locals. Visitors come here to relax on one of its many beaches or explore nearby attractions such as Makaha Beach Park or Kaena Point State Park. For those looking for an adrenaline rush there are plenty of water sports activities like surfing, snorkeling and diving available in this part of Oahu. Hiking trails also wind through lush forests where you can observe native flora and fauna including rare birds like nene geese or alala crows.

The town also contains several cultural attractions such as Keawaula Beach which was once an important fishing ground for ancient Hawaiians or Pokai Bay which was once home to a thriving fishing village that dates back to more than 500 years ago when Polynesians first arrived in Hawaii. In addition to these sites there are also several local shops where you can find traditional handcrafted items like ukuleles or hula skirts as well as local food specialties such as poi, lomi salmon and poke bowls made with freshly caught fish from nearby waters.
