Galliano, Louisiana is located in Lafourche Parish on the Gulf of Mexico. It is situated on a narrow strip of land between the Gulf and Bayou Lafourche, with a population of around 7,000 people. The area has been inhabited by Native Americans for thousands of years. In the 1700s French settlers arrived in the area and established a settlement called “Galliano” that was named after a Spanish soldier who fought in the area during the American Revolution. The settlement grew and eventually became an incorporated town in 1873.
