Yarmouth, Maine is a small city located in Cumberland County, about ten miles north of Portland. It is situated on the banks of the Royal River and has a population of about 10,000 people. The geography of Yarmouth is mainly flat, with some hills to the south. The climate in Yarmouth is generally mild and comfortable. Summers are warm and humid, while winters are cold and snowy.

Yarmouth’s history dates back to 1636 when it was established as a fishing and trading port. The town was also a popular stop on the Underground Railroad, providing refuge for escaped slaves during the Civil War. Yarmouth is governed by a mayor-council system with seven council members who are elected to two-year terms. The economy of Yarmouth is based mainly on tourism, fishing, and light industry.
