Glen Burnie is located in the northern part of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, just south of Baltimore. It is situated 15 miles south of the Chesapeake Bay and is bordered by Interstate 97 to the west and Maryland Route 2 to the east. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from 43°F in January to 85°F in July.

Glen Burnie was first settled by George Beall in 1812, and it was named after his son-in-law, Elijah Glen. The town grew steadily during the 19th century as a farming community, but its population exploded after World War II when many veterans moved to the area for affordable housing. Today, Glen Burnie has a population of around 70,000 people and continues to grow steadily.
