Utica, Mississippi is situated in the southwestern corner of Hinds County. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Average temperatures range from 35-90 degrees Fahrenheit. Utica has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1837; it was originally part of the Choctaw Nation before becoming part of the United States. The city was an important transportation hub for goods and services during the Civil War.
