Havre, Montana Population, Hospitals, Airports, and Schools

Havre, Montana is a small city located in the north-central region of the state. The city lies along the Milk River and is surrounded by several mountain ranges including the Bear Paw Mountains, Little Rocky Mountains, and Highwood Mountains. With a population of around 9,800 people, Havre is the largest city in Hill County and one of the main hubs of commerce for northern Montana.

Havre was founded in 1893 as a railroad town and quickly grew to be an important stop on both the Great Northern Railway and Milwaukee Road Railway lines. As such, Havre has been nicknamed “The Town on the Hi-Line” due to its location on US Highway 2 which runs along the Hi-Line corridor in Montana. This highway connects Havre to other cities such as Great Falls to the south and Helena to the east.

The economy of Havre is primarily based around agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, and retail services. Agriculture is still very important in this area with many farmers growing wheat, barley, hay, sugar beets and other crops for sale throughout Montana and beyond. Manufacturing products include food processing plants that produce specialty items like malt syrup for use in brewing beer or distilling spirits. Retail services provide goods from clothing stores to auto parts outlets while tourism brings visitors interested in exploring local sights such as Fort Assinniboine Historic Park or taking advantage of outdoor activities like fishing or camping at nearby Beaver Creek Reservoir or Big Sandy Lake State Park.

In addition to its economic importance, Havre also offers a variety of recreational activities for residents and visitors alike including golfing at Cottonwood Hills Golf Course or skiing at Showdown Ski Area located just north of town. The city also hosts several annual events such as Kite Festival during summer months and Winter Fest during winter months which highlight local culture with music performances from local bands as well as art displays from local artists.

Havre provides a great place for those looking for an escape from big city life while still having access to all necessary amenities like healthcare facilities (Northern Rockies Medical Center) schools (Montana State University – Northern) churches (First Lutheran Church) parks (Riverside Park) libraries (Havre Public Library), shopping (downtown district), restaurants (Mudman Bar & Grill)and more! With its small-town charm yet close proximity to larger cities like Great Falls or Helena – it’s easy to see why so many people are drawn to this unique community nestled within some truly breathtaking scenery.
