Petersburg, Nebraska is a small city located in Boone County. With a population of around 1,500 residents, Petersburg is a tight-knit community that offers its residents an array of activities and amenities. Geographically, the city lies on the east side of the Platte River and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. Its climate is typical of the Midwest with hot summers and cold winters.

The history of Petersburg dates back to 1871 when it was founded by German immigrants who were attracted to the area because of its fertile soil. The town was named after one of the founders, Peter Schreiner. As with many towns in Nebraska, Petersburg has been primarily agricultural since its beginning.
