Troy is located in New Hampshire’s Sullivan County and is situated between the cities of Claremont and Newport. The city has a total area of 16.6 square miles and a population of just over 1,500 people. The climate in Troy is generally mild, with cold winters and hot summers.

Troy’s history dates back to 1764 when it was incorporated as a town, although it wasn’t until 1807 that it was given its current name. It was an important manufacturing center for many years, producing goods such as woolen goods, leather, paper products, and lumber. In more recent years Troy has become a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to Mount Sunapee State Park and the nearby White Mountain National Forest.

Politics in Troy are managed by the city council which is composed of six members elected for two-year terms by residents of the city. The mayor is elected every two years as well, and serves on the council along with the other members.

The economy in Troy relies heavily on tourism due to its proximity to ski resorts like Mount Sunapee State Park as well as its location near the White Mountain National Forest which attracts outdoor enthusiasts from all over New England.
