Seymour, Texas is located in the Red River Valley of North Texas. It is a small town of about 3,000 people and covers an area of about 8 square miles. The city is situated in a rolling terrain that has several small hills and valleys. It is bordered by two rivers, the Brazos River to the north and the Red River to the south.

The climate in Seymour is temperate, with mild winters and hot summers. Average temperatures range from 35-95 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year. Rainfall averages about 30 inches per year and snowfall is usually light but can be heavy at times during winter months.

The history of Seymour dates back to 1876 when it was founded as a trading post on the banks of the Brazos River by settlers from nearby towns. Over time, it grew into a thriving center for cotton production, eventually becoming one of Texas’s leading cotton-producing cities during World War II. Today, Seymour remains an important agricultural center for North Texas with its main crops being cotton and wheat.

Seymour’s government consists of a mayor-council form of government with five council members elected at large every two years and a mayor elected every four years. The city also has an elected school board that oversees both public schools and private schools in the area.
