Roma is located in the Rio Grande Valley in Southern Texas, just north of the US-Mexico border. It has a semi-tropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. The city was founded in 1765 by the Spanish, and today is home to a population of about 11,000 people. Politically, Roma falls within Starr County and is represented by State Representative Rene Oliveira.
