Beaver was founded in 1856 by Mormon pioneers from Parowan, Utah and is one of the oldest cities in the state. The economy of Beaver was initially based on agriculture and ranching, but it has since diversified to include tourism and manufacturing. There are several educational institutions located within the town limits including Beaver High School, which offers classes for grades 9-12; Beaver Valley Elementary School; and Southern Utah University’s branch campus.
