Hyde Park, Vermont is a small town located in the northern part of the state in Lamoille County. It is situated between the towns of Morrisville and Johnson, and is bordered by the Lamoille River to the north. Hyde Park has a population of 1,061 residents (as of 2019) and is home to several historic properties, including Hyde Park Village Green and Hyde Park Town Hall.

The town was first settled in 1796 by William Hyde and his family, who established a sawmill on the banks of the Lamoille River. The village was incorporated in 1802 and named after William’s father, John Hyde. Throughout its history, Hyde Park has been an agricultural community with several dairy farms located throughout the area. In addition to farming, many residents have found employment at local factories such as Austin Brothers Lumber Company or at a variety of small businesses located throughout town.

The village green is a popular spot for locals to gather for events such as farmers markets or summer concerts. The park features an old-fashioned bandstand that serves as a gathering place for concerts on summer nights. The bandstand was built in 1878 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Hyde Park Town Hall is another historic building that serves as an important gathering place for community meetings or events such as elections or town meetings. Built in 1848, it stands today as one of only two original brick town halls still standing in Vermont today.

The village also features several recreational opportunities including Crossett Brook Reservoir where visitors can enjoy fishing or swimming during warmer months; Snow Farm Winery which offers tours and tastings; and Elmore State Park which offers camping sites for visitors looking to explore nature or take part in outdoor activities such as hiking, biking or horseback riding trails that wind through the park’s lush forests and meadows.

In addition to its many recreational activities, Hyde Park also boasts a number of shops and restaurants where visitors can find unique gifts or sample some of Vermont’s famous locally produced foods like maple syrup or cheddar cheese curds from nearby farms.

With its rich history, beautiful scenery and friendly locals, it’s easy to see why so many people call this quaint little town home – making it one of Vermont’s most beloved destinations year-round.
