Toms Brook was founded in 1790 by Peter Tom, who owned a large tract of land near the river and named it after himself. The town has a population of about 500 people and is known for its historical significance and natural beauty.

The area around Toms Brook was originally inhabited by Native Americans before being settled by Europeans in the late 1700s.
