Toms Brook is a small unincorporated town located in Shenandoah County, Virginia. It is situated between the North and South Fork of the Shenandoah River. Toms Brook was founded in 1790 by Peter Tom, who owned a large tract of land near the river and named it after himself. The town has a population of about 500 people and is known for its historical significance and natural beauty.

The area around Toms Brook was originally inhabited by Native Americans before being settled by Europeans in the late 1700s. The town was home to several prominent families, including the Tom family, who owned much of the land surrounding Toms Brook. During the Civil War, Toms Brook saw significant action as it was a strategic location for both Union and Confederate forces. In October 1864, Confederate General Jubal Early led his troops through Toms Brook during his raid into Pennsylvania. This event is still remembered today with an annual reenactment that takes place each October.
