The city rests at an elevation of approximately 500 feet above sea level and enjoys a temperate climate year-round, with warm summers and mild winters. Warrenton has a rich history, dating back to its founding in 1789 by Joseph Warren, an early settler who named it after himself. The city has served as a crossroads for many different cultures over the centuries, including Native Americans, European settlers, and African-Americans. Politically, Warrenton is part of Virginia’s 8th congressional district and is represented by Representative Donald McEachin.
