Mabton, Washington is a small town located in Yakima County, in the central part of the state. It is situated along the Yakima River, about 20 miles north of the city of Yakima. The town was founded in 1908 and named after Mabton Smith, who owned the first store in town. The town has seen its population grow and shrink over the years; however it has remained relatively small since its founding.
