Elkview, West Virginia is a small town located in Kanawha County, in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. The town was incorporated in 1889 and has a population of just over 1,000 people. The town is situated along the Elk River and is home to a variety of different businesses including convenience stores, restaurants, and shops.

The town’s history dates back to the 1700s when Native Americans inhabited the area but it was not until 1820 that settlers began to arrive. The main industry in Elkview during this time period was coal mining as well as logging and farming. By the late 1800s, Elkview had grown into a small but thriving community with several businesses and churches established within its limits.

Today, Elkview is still largely dependent on coal mining and related industries for its economic livelihood. However, it has also become known for its outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, camping and hiking due to its close proximity to several state parks such as Kanawha State Forest and Beech Fork State Park. In addition, there are several other attractions nearby including an old train station which was once used by coal miners as well as an abandoned mine which has since been turned into an outdoor museum.
