Shawano, Wisconsin is located in the north-central part of the state. The city is situated on the Wolf River, a tributary of Lake Winnebago. Shawano has a humid continental climate, with four distinct seasons and an average temperature of 45°F. The city was founded in 1853 by settlers from the Menominee Nation and was named after Chief Shawano.

In terms of politics, Shawano is part of Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District. As far as economics are concerned, Shawano has a diverse economy based around manufacturing, retail trade, health care and social assistance, and educational services.
