The town is located on the Colorado Plateau and has a semi-arid climate with hot summers and cold winters. The average annual temperature is around 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
Teec Nos Pos has a rich history, as it was originally occupied by the Navajo people before being settled by non-Native Americans in the late 19th century. The town was officially incorporated in 1937, when it became known as Teec Nos Pos Trading Post. Its name comes from the Navajo phrase meaning “Cottonwood Springs”.
