Moving to Radom, Illinois

Radom is a small village located in Washington County, Illinois. The population is less than 400 people and it is known for its peaceful atmosphere and rural setting. It is situated in the rolling hills of southern Illinois, near the intersection of State Route 127 and State Route 155.

The town was founded in 1887 by two brothers, Henry and William Radom. The brothers were immigrants from Germany who wanted to build a new life for themselves in America. They purchased land in Washington County and began farming it, eventually establishing the village of Radom. The town was named after their own family name, Radomski.

The farming industry has been the primary source of income for Radom since its inception. The majority of land within the village limits is used for agriculture, including corn, soybeans, wheat and hay production. Many local farmers have been longtime residents of Radom and have passed down their knowledge from generation to generation.

In addition to farming, other industries have also contributed to the economy of Radom over time. These include several lumber mills as well as a brick factory that produced bricks for many buildings around town until it closed down in 2006.

Radom has been home to several churches over the years, including Sts Peter & Paul Catholic Church which was founded in 1898 by German immigrants who settled here after coming to America from Germany in 1882-83. There are also two cemeteries located within the village limits – Sts Peter & Paul Cemetery and New Hope Cemetery – which serve as a final resting place for many local residents who have passed away throughout history.

The community of Radom has remained relatively unchanged over time even though there have been some developments such as new homes built on existing farmland or existing homes being remodeled or restored as new families move into town. Despite these changes, much of what makes up this small village has stayed true throughout its long history – its friendly people, beautiful countryside views and strong sense of community spirit that make it such an inviting place to live and work today.
