Heber, California is a small rural town located in Imperial County, just south of the Salton Sea. It has a population of about 1,500 people and is part of the El Centro metropolitan area. The town was founded in the late 1800s by Mormon settlers from Utah, and is home to the world’s oldest continuously operated Mormon temple.

Heber is known for its beautiful desert scenery and lush vegetation. The surrounding land is mostly flat but there are some hills and canyons to explore. The desert landscape provides an ideal habitat for a variety of wildlife, including coyotes, bobcats, roadrunners, quail, lizards and snakes. There are also many plant species that grow in this area such as creosote bush, Joshua tree and palm trees.

The town itself is home to a few restaurants and stores as well as some agricultural businesses such as date farms. Heber also has a small airport which serves private aircrafts only.

Heber’s main attraction is its historic sites and museums which showcase the history of the area from the time when it was first settled by Mormon pioneers all the way through World War II when Imperial County played an important role in defending our nation’s borders from threats from Mexico. The Heber Valley Historical Museum showcases many artifacts from this era as well as other artifacts related to Native American culture in Imperial County.

The Heber Valley also offers many recreational activities including camping, fishing, boating on local lakes, hunting for wild game or exploring off-road trails on ATVs or dirt bikes. There are several golf courses nearby as well as tennis courts and swimming pools for those who want to stay active during their visit to Heber.

Heber may be small but it offers plenty of activities to keep visitors entertained while they explore this quaint desert town with its rich history and natural beauty that can be found nowhere else in California.
