Belle Vernon is a borough located in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. It is situated along the Monongahela River and has a population of approximately 4,000 people.

The area was first settled by European settlers in 1770 when James Finley arrived from Ireland and established the first settlement. The town was officially incorporated as Belle Vernon in 1884. The name “Belle” is derived from the French word for “beautiful” and “Vernon” is a tribute to General George Washington, who camped near the area during the Revolutionary War.
