Carrington, North Dakota is a small city located in Foster County, in the northeastern region of the state. With a population of just over 2,000 people, Carrington is the county seat of Foster County and is home to one of the region’s most unique attractions—the Carrington National Fish Hatchery.

The town was founded in 1883 by settlers from Norway and Germany who were looking for a place to settle down and make a living. Carrington quickly became an agricultural hub, with its fertile soil providing an ideal climate for growing grains, vegetables, and fruits. The town also served as an important regional trading post for local farmers and ranchers.

Today, Carrington is still known as one of the premier agricultural centers in North Dakota. The area’s fertile soil produces some of the best wheat, barley, corn, oats and flaxseed around.
