Eastman, the county seat for Dodge County, was settled in 1840 and later incorporated in 1905. The city was named for William Pitt Eastman, who donated most of the land for the town.

The Dodge County courthouse, in Eastman, was constructed in 1908 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

At one time, Eastman was referred to as the “Paris of the Wiregrass” due to its high degree of culture. The city’s courthouse is situated on a circle, instead of the usual Courthouse Square.

Eastman is home of the famous Stuckey Candy Plant and is given the nickname “Candy Capital of Georgia”. The candy shop, pecan orchards, and several homes are available for touring.
