Farmington, New Mexico is a small city located in the northwest corner of the state. The population is estimated to be 45,000 people, most of whom are Native American or Hispanic. The area has a semi-arid climate with hot summers and mild winters.

The history of Farmington dates back thousands of years when Ancestral Puebloans inhabited the area. Later, Navajo and Apache tribes also lived in the region. In 1868, settlers from Colorado arrived in the area and began to establish farms and ranches. Today, Farmington is home to several major industries including oil and gas production, agriculture, and tourism.

The city is home to several schools including San Juan College which offers degrees in a variety of fields such as nursing, engineering technology and business administration. There are also numerous elementary and secondary schools that serve the local population.

Farmington has several notable landmarks that attract visitors from around the world including Salmon Ruins which was once an Ancestral Puebloan village dating back over 1,000 years ago. Visitors can also explore Aztec Ruins National Monument which features ruins from an ancient civilization that flourished centuries ago or take a stroll through Animas Park located on the banks of the Animas River where visitors can spot wildlife or take part in recreational activities such as fishing or canoeing.

Politically speaking, Farmington is represented by three members of Congress: Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM), Xochitl Torres Small (D-NM) and Deb Haaland (D-NM). On the local level, Farmington has its own mayor who presides over City Council meetings along with seven other members who represent their respective districts within the city limits. The economy of Farmington is largely driven by oil and gas production as well as agriculture with many residents employed at one of these two industries or at one of many local businesses throughout town such as hospitals, restaurants or retail stores.
