Florence, New Jersey is located in Burlington County and is part of the Delaware Valley area. The city is situated on a small peninsula that juts out into the Delaware River and is bordered by Bordentown Township to the north, Roebling to the east, and Mansfield Township to the south. The climate in Florence is typical of southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey with hot summers, mild winters, and moderate humidity. The average annual temperature is around 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

History-wise, Florence dates back to 1677 when it was first founded as a settlement for Quakers from England. During the American Revolution, it served as a major port for supplies coming in from Philadelphia and other parts of Pennsylvania. In 1795 it was incorporated as a borough in Burlington County.

Politically, Florence has been predominately Democratic since its incorporation as a borough in 1795. It has been represented by both Democratic and Republican members of Congress since then.
