Fraser, Colorado is a small town located in Grand County with a population of approximately 1,224 people according to the 2010 census. The town is situated in the Fraser Valley at an elevation of 8,574 feet and is surrounded by the Arapaho National Forest. The climate of Fraser is generally temperate with cold winters and warm summers. Snowfall typically occurs from October through April and temperatures can range from -20°F to 65°F during the year.

The history of Fraser dates back to 1874 when a homesteader named William Hallett built a cabin on the site. During this time, Fraser was known as Hallett’s Ranch and was used for cattle ranching and farming. In the early 1900s, however, the area experienced rapid growth due to its close proximity to Winter Park ski resort. This influx of people led to the incorporation of Fraser in 1938 as a town with its own mayor and town council.

Today, Fraser’s economy is largely based on tourism related activities such as skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, camping, fishing and more.
