Hacienda Heights is a census-designated place located in Los Angeles County, California. It is situated in the San Gabriel Valley region of Los Angeles County and has a population of 54,038 people as of the 2010 census. The geography of Hacienda Heights is mostly hilly terrain with a few flat areas, and it is bordered by the cities of La Habra Heights and Whittier to the north, City of Industry to the east, Rowland Heights to the south, and West Covina to the west.

The climate in Hacienda Heights is typical for Southern California; it experiences hot summers and mild winters with temperatures rarely dropping below freezing. The area receives an average amount of rainfall throughout the year as well.

Hacienda Heights has a long history that dates back to 1771 when Spanish missionaries first settled in the area. It was one of the first communities established by Spanish settlers in what is now Los Angeles County. Over time, it became part of Rancho La Puente which eventually became part of Los Angeles County in 1887. Hacienda Heights officially became an unincorporated community under its current name in 1960 when it was subdivided from Rancho La Puente and incorporated into Los Angeles County.

Politically, Hacienda Heights is represented by two members on the Board of Supervisors for Los Angeles County – Supervisor Janice Hahn (4th District) and Supervisor Kathryn Barger (5th District). The area is also represented federally by Congresswoman Grace Napolitano (CA-32).
