Isle La Motte is a small town in northwestern Vermont located on an island in Lake Champlain. It is the oldest town in the state, with its first settlers arriving in 1783. The town was named after the French explorer La Motte who explored the area in 1666. With a population of less than 500, Isle La Motte is a quiet and peaceful place to live, work and play.

The main attraction of Isle La Motte is its natural beauty. It has stunning views of Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains beyond. This battle saw American forces defeat British forces in an effort to gain control of Lake Champlain and ultimately win independence from Great Britain. Today, there are several memorials and monuments throughout Isle La Motte that commemorate this important event in American history.

The town also boasts several historical sites such as Stannard’s Rock State Historic Site which is home to an ancient Native American fortification dating back over 4500 years ago; as well as St Anne’s Shrine which was built by French missionaries in 1730; and Fiske Free Library which houses over 30,000 books and rare manuscripts from colonial times up until present day making it one of Vermont’s oldest libraries still operating today!

Isle La Motte is also home to two popular festivals each year – Summerfest which takes place every July showcasing local food vendors, live music performances and art displays; and Harvestfest which takes place every October featuring hayrides, pumpkin carving contests and more!
