Moving to Lagrange, Georgia

LaGrange became the county seat of Troup County on December 16, 1828. LaGrange is named in honor of General Marquis de LaFayette’s estate in France. LaFayette, a French soldier and statesman, earned recognition due to his service to the United States during the American Revolution.

The courthouse in Troup County was constructed in 1939 and is in the process of being listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
