Laurelville, Ohio is a small village located in the southwestern part of the state. It is nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and is surrounded by rolling hills and lush forests. The village has a population of just over 800 people and covers an area of 2.1 square miles.

The village was founded in 1810 by settlers from Pennsylvania and Virginia who were seeking a new home in the wilderness. The town’s name was chosen to honor Revolutionary War veteran John Laurell, who had been granted land there by President Thomas Jefferson.

The economy of Laurelville is largely driven by agriculture, with corn, soybeans, hay, and wheat being among the most important crops grown in the area. Along with this park there are several other nearby attractions such as The Rock House State Memorial which offers guided tours through its rock formations as well as spectacular views of surrounding forests and valleys; Tar Hollow State Forest which features over 20 miles of trails for hiking or biking; Lake Logan State Park which has swimming beaches as well as boat rentals; Conkles Hollow State Nature Preserve offering breathtaking views from atop its sandstone cliffs; Rockbridge State Nature Preserve where you can explore an ancient stone arch bridge; and Lake Hope State Park with its many fishing opportunities on one of Ohio’s largest inland lakes.

Despite being relatively small in size compared to other towns across Ohio, Laurelville still provides plenty to do for those looking for an enjoyable day trip or weekend getaway destination.
