Lennox, South Dakota is a small town located in Lincoln County, about 18 miles west of Sioux Falls. With a population of 1,743 people according to the 2019 Census estimates, Lennox is one of the smaller towns in the state.

The town was founded in 1880 by James and Margaret Lennox. The town was named after their son John Lennox and has been known as Lennox ever since. Originally a farming community, it began to diversify as it grew in size throughout the years.

Today, Lennox is known for its small-town charm and friendly atmosphere. It’s a great place to raise a family or retire with its low crime rate and beautiful scenery. The town has several parks and recreational areas such as Cottonwood Park which features a playground, basketball court and walking trails. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants to explore downtown including the famous Black Hills Bakery which has been around for over 100 years!

Lennox is home to several schools including two elementary schools (Lennox Elementary School and Northwestern Elementary School), one middle school (Lennox Middle School) and one high school (Lennox High School). All schools have an excellent academic reputation with high test scores and graduation rates.

The city offers plenty of activities for residents year round such as fishing at Lake Alvin or hunting at nearby Oakwood Wildlife Management Area. There are also many events held throughout the year such as the annual Harvest Festival which takes place every September or the classic car show that takes place every June at Cottonwood Park.

Overall Lennox is an excellent small town with plenty of things to do for both residents and visitors alike! It’s an ideal location for those looking for a quiet community close enough to Sioux Falls but far enough away from all the hustle and bustle.
