Livingston, New Jersey is located in Essex County and is home to a population of nearly 30,000 people. The town is situated on the Passaic River, which provides a picturesque backdrop to the area. The geography is mainly suburban with tree-lined streets and plenty of green space. The climate in Livingston is moderate with hot summers and cold winters.

The history of Livingston dates back to 1699 when it was first settled by Dutch settlers. In 1702, the area was officially established as part of the Elizabethtown Tract and was known as Caldwell Township. In 1981, Livingston was incorporated as an independent borough and today remains a vibrant community with a strong sense of local pride.

The politics of Livingston are mainly dominated by Democrats who hold most offices in town government. The economy of Livingston is largely based on retail trade and services with many businesses located in the downtown area.
