Malakoff, Texas is a small city located in Henderson County, Texas with an estimated population of 2,042 people. It is situated about 80 miles southeast of Dallas and borders the city of Athens. Geographically, the terrain is mostly flat with a few hills and some nearby lakes. The climate is hot in the summer and mild in the winter with temperatures ranging from 40 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.

The history of Malakoff dates back to 1854 when it was first established as a small farming community. It has been through many changes since then including becoming an oil boomtown during the 1920s and 1930s. The economy today is mainly based on agriculture, tourism, and retail. Education wise there are several schools in the area including Malakoff High School which opened in 1921.
