Marshall, Michigan is located in the south-central part of the state and is bordered by Battle Creek to the north, Albion to the east, Homer to the south, and Tekonsha to the west. The city lies on the banks of the Kalamazoo River and is known for its rolling hills and beautiful countryside. Marshall has a humid continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. The average annual temperature is around 48°F (9°C) with an average precipitation of 32 inches (81 cm).

Marshall was founded in 1831 by Isaac Crary as a trading post along the Kalamazoo River. It was incorporated as a village in 1838 and grew rapidly during the 19th century due to its ideal location near major transportation routes. The city has been a center for industry since its founding, including paper mills, foundries, furniture factories, and textile mills. Today Marshall’s economy is focused on healthcare services and light manufacturing.
