The city of Marysville was founded in 1817 by James Galloway and William Yantis. The two men named the town after Mary Yantis, William’s mother. For many years, Marysville was a rural farming community until industrial development began in the late 19th century. In 1901, Marysville became a village and eventually incorporated as a city in 1950.

Today, Marysville is known for its vibrant downtown area that features several unique shops and restaurants.
