Matthews, Indiana is located in the far south of the state and has a population of around 1,400 people. It is situated close to the Ohio River and is bordered by Kentucky to the south. The climate in Matthews is generally mild with hot summers and cold winters. The town was originally founded in 1818 by John Matthews, a Revolutionary War veteran who was granted land for his service.
