Maynard, Massachusetts is a small city of about 10,000 people located in Middlesex County, about 20 miles west of Boston. The city is situated in a hilly region with many streams and rivers running through it. The climate is generally mild and humid, with hot summers and cold winters.

Maynard was originally part of the town of Stow before becoming its own independent municipality in 1997. It has an open town meeting form of government with a mayor and six-member board of selectmen elected to two-year terms. The economy is largely driven by technology companies such as Oracle and Bose Corporation, as well as tourism to local historical sites.

The city has several public schools that are part of the Maynard Public School District. These include Maynard High School, Green Meadow Elementary School, Fowler Middle School, and the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School.
