McIntosh, South Dakota is a small town located in the southeastern corner of the state. It is situated on the banks of Lake Oahe, a large reservoir created by the construction of the Oahe Dam on the Missouri River. The town was founded in 1884 and was originally known as “Old Town” before it was renamed after James McIntosh, an early settler.

Today, McIntosh is home to a population of just over 200 people. Despite its small size, this community has a lot to offer to visitors and residents alike. For starters, there are plenty of outdoor recreational activities available in and around town. The nearby lake provides plenty of opportunities for fishing, boating, swimming, and more.
