Middlesex, North Carolina is a small town with a population of just over 1,000 people. It is located in the western part of the state, about 30 miles from the capital city of Raleigh. The terrain is mostly flat with rolling hills and forests in the surrounding areas. The climate in Middlesex is humid subtropical; summers are hot and humid while winters are mild.

Middlesex was originally settled by English settlers in 1760 and was officially incorporated in 1883. Since then, it has remained a small rural town known for its farming and fishing industries. Politically, Middlesex is a Republican-leaning town; however, there are also many independent voters who identify as neither Democrat nor Republican.

Additionally, every year on Memorial Day weekend thousands of people gather for the annual “Old Time Fiddler’s Convention” which features live music performances from some of the best fiddle players in the area.
