Modoc is an unincorporated community located in Randolph County, Indiana. It is situated just east of Winchester, the county seat. The town was first established in 1837 and was named for the Modoc people, a Native American tribe that lived in the area prior to European settlement.
The town has a population of just under 500 people according to the 2010 census. The majority of residents are employed by local businesses such as farming, manufacturing, and transportation.
