Muskogee, Oklahoma is a charming city with a rich history and diverse culture. Located in Northeastern Oklahoma on the Arkansas River, part of the city is located in Muskogee County while the other part is located in Wagoner County. The population of Muskogee is estimated to be around 40,000 people.

The city was founded by the Creek Nation in 1872 and was named after Chief Muscogee of the Creek tribe. The area quickly grew as settlers arrived to work in the coal mines and cotton fields. The economy also flourished thanks to its thriving lumber industry, which provided jobs for many residents.

The downtown area is vibrant and full of culture, featuring a variety of shops, restaurants, galleries and entertainment venues. There are also several historic sites to explore such as Honor Heights Park, the Five Civilized Tribes Museum and Fort Gibson Historic Site. For those who enjoy outdoor activities like hiking or fishing there are plenty of opportunities available at nearby lakes or parks including Greenleaf State Park or Sequoyah State Park.

Muskogee has a rich cultural heritage that includes many Native American tribes such as Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw and Seminole Nations who call this area home. Additionally there are plenty of festivals to enjoy throughout the year such as Jazz on The River Festival or Azalea Festival which take place each springtime at Honor Heights Park.
