New Castle, Delaware is the oldest city in the state. It is located on the Delaware River, just south of Wilmington. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with hot and humid summers and mild winters. The average high temperature in July is 87 degrees Fahrenheit and the average low temperature in January is 28 degrees Fahrenheit.

The history of New Castle dates back to 1651 when Dutch settlers first arrived and established Fort Casimir. The fort was later renamed Fort Trinity and then New Amstel before finally being named New Castle in 1673. During the American Revolution, the city was occupied by British forces until 1777 when they were driven out by George Washington’s troops.

In modern times, New Castle has become a thriving political center for Delaware. It was home to three signers of the Declaration of Independence: Thomas McKean, George Read, and Caesar Rodney. Today, it is home to several government offices including the State Tax Office and Department of Elections as well as many historic sites such as Old Town Hall which dates back to 1724.

The economy of New Castle is driven by tourism and retail businesses as well as manufacturing companies such as Stoltz Manufacturing Company which produces aerospace components for Boeing aircrafts. There are over six thousand businesses in town that employ over twenty-five thousand people.

New Castle also boasts an excellent education system with seven public schools including two elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools, and one technical school that offers career-oriented courses such as welding or auto mechanics. There are also several private schools in town that offer religious instruction or alternative learning styles for students who prefer them over traditional schooling methods.

The city’s landmarks include Old Court House (built 1732), Immanuel Episcopal Church (built 1703), Amstel House (built 1697), Dutch House (built 1650), Battery Park (built 1808), Read House & Garden (built 1763) and many more historical sites that are open to visitors year round or during special events like the annual Christmas festival held each December at Old Court House Square where vendors sell holiday wares while carolers sing traditional songs throughout the night.

New Castle is located at 11km south of Wilmington. The state’s original capital and a major colonial seaport, on the Delaware River. Located just seven miles south of Wilmington, New Castle is a historic city that was founded in 1651 by Peter Stuyvesant.
