Newberry, Florida is a small city located in Alachua County in the northern part of the state. With a population of 8,400, it is the largest city in the county and has a rich history. The geography of Newberry is characterized by rolling hills and lush vegetation, while its climate is mild and humid.

Newberry was founded in 1883 by Captain Henry H. Jennings, who named it after his hometown of Newburyport, Massachusetts. The area quickly grew as settlers began to arrive and many businesses opened up along Main Street. In 1912, Newberry was officially incorporated as a city.
