Geographically, the city lies east of the Everglades and is bordered by Miramar to the north and Hollywood to the south. The climate in Pembroke Pines is generally hot and humid year-round with temperatures ranging from the mid-60s in winter to the high 80s in summer.

The history of Pembroke Pines dates back to the early 20th century when it was first settled by pioneers from Kentucky. The city was officially incorporated in 1960 and grew rapidly over the next several decades as new residents moved into the area.
