Prescott, Washington Population, Hospitals, Airports, and Schools

Prescott, Washington is a small, rural town located in the heart of the Palouse region of Eastern Washington. It is situated about an hour and a half east of Spokane, and an hour southwest of Pullman. This community has a population of just over 500 people, making it one of the smallest towns in the state.

The town was named after Ephraim Prescott, who homesteaded there in 1872. He was one of the first settlers to arrive in this area and established his own farmstead. The original settlement was called “Prescottville” and was located near where Highway 195 now passes through town.

Prescott is home to a number of historic buildings that were built during its early days as a farming community. One such building is the old Prescott Schoolhouse which dates back to 1895 and still stands today as part of the local museum complex. Other noteworthy buildings include the old post office which is now used as a library, and several churches including St John’s Catholic Church built in 1904 and St Peter’s Episcopal Church erected in 1906.

The Palouse region has long been known for its fertile soil which makes it an ideal place for growing crops like wheat, barley, oats and peas. In fact, many local farmers have been growing these crops since Ephraim Prescott first arrived here over 140 years ago! In addition to farming, Prescott also has some light industry including a sawmill that produces lumber for use throughout the region.

Prescott also boasts several recreational activities for locals and visitors alike to enjoy year-round including camping at nearby lakes such as Eloika Lake or fishing on Lake Roosevelt or at one of several nearby rivers like Snake River or Little Spokane River. There are also several hiking trails throughout the area where visitors can explore more remote areas that are off-the-beaten path such as Fishtrap State Park or Riverside State Park both located within minutes from Prescott itself!

In addition to its outdoor activities, Prescott also offers some unique shopping experiences with several antique stores around town that sell vintage clothing items from past eras as well as vintage home décor items too! There are also some great restaurants around town serving up delicious food that locals love such as The Old Market Deli & Café or Dixie’s Diner both offering classic diner favorites like burgers & fries with shakes too! Overall there’s plenty to do here whether you’re looking for outdoor fun or shopping & dining experiences! So come explore what Prescott has to offer today.
