The town is situated in the rolling hills of central Illinois, and is home to some of the most beautiful views in the state. Princeville is steeped in history. It was founded in 1837 by Robert Prince, an English immigrant who had been granted land from the federal government. In its early days it was an agricultural community whose main industry was farming. As time passed, other industries started to appear such as coal mining and manufacturing.
