Quincy, Illinois is a city located in the West-Central region of the state. The geography of Quincy is mostly flat, with an elevation of about 600 feet above sea level. The city is situated along the Mississippi River and is bordered by the states of Iowa and Missouri. The climate in Quincy is typical for this region of the country, with hot summers and cold winters. The history of Quincy dates back to 1822 when it was founded as a trading post by John Wood.
